If we don't stand up for what we care about, who will?

The Hidden Good has given me the courage to make a stand for taking ownership in creating the world and society we want to live in.

Recently, I took a stand, literally, at Singapore's National Day Rally, which was then captured on national TV. I didn't think people would notice as I was literally 2 seats away from the wall on the side of the auditorium. But people did. My newsfeed was flooded - with love and support, solidarity and encouragement, from both friends I knew and strangers I hadn't even met. Amidst the chatter on the Internet, I am so grateful to all those who reached out, showed me love and made me feel that I wasn't alone.

The Hidden Good has given me a place to make this stand, to grow, to give, to take risks, to learn, and most of all, to contribute to the society I want to live in. It has taught me humility, but also to dream big and challenge my own beliefs of what is possible.

I am "sibeh enthu" - and I'll own it, wholeheartedly and unabashedly, especially for the things I care about, like building a bigger and brighter future for this place we call Home. We need to be resolute in our stand for Singapore: to always be on the side of its people, and to remember that we can continue to create something out of nothing.

I wore my heart on my sleeve that night. And I would do it again in a heartbeat. I'm growing in courage everyday, and learning to trust myself with each step. If we don't we stand up for what we care about, who will?
